Frédérique Deiss, post-doctoral fellow, was awarded a research grant worth $112,000 from Grand Challenges Canada – Rising Stars in Global Health (Round 6).

Grand Challenges Canada is funded by the Government of Canada and is dedicated to supporting Bold Ideas with Big Impact in global health. Frédérique‘s proposal “Detection of bacteria in food and water in low-resource settings with low-cost portable electrochemical paper-based devices” was selected as one of the 61 seed-projects funded in the 6th round of Stars in Global Health (35 innovators from developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America and 26 Canadian-based innovators) out of 750 applications.
